I am a fan of the SBS TV program Gourmet Farmer and I remember an episode from last season I think when Matthew Evans explored the benefits of adding microbes to the soil in his veggie patch. He ran an experiment on two garden beds, planting one with the addition of a microbial brew and one without. Unsurprisingly, the one with the soil amendment produced larger and healthier looking plants and significantly more produce was harvested.
So when I saw this product Micro-Force for sale at the Perth’s Garden Festival this year, I thought I’d give it a go. It made up two buckets of brew that was then diluted to cover an area of 250sqm. It was painstakingly slow to administer by watering can (ugh!) but I’m hoping my eight raised vegetable beds, herb beds, blueberry and asparagus patches, and two orchard areas will benefit from the addition and work together with these guys (left) for a bumper crop.
