Communications, marketing & freelance writing
For nearly 10 years I’ve been working for myself as a communications and marketing consultant through my business, Finesse Communications. Before going out on my own, my career was forged largely in the property sector in senior communications roles working for some of Perth’s premier construction, project management, urban design / planning and development organisations.
Good Clean and Fair: supporting the sustainable food industry
I am in the process of dramatically shifting my focus to the sustainable food industry and turning my personal passions for slow food, permaculture, gardening and regenerative farming into a career. To quote the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance whose purpose is “to cooperate to create an equitable, sustainable and resilient food system for all Australians”, I am interested in a multitude of issues that cross over within this space. I want to support and promote small scale producers and farmers, and sing the holistic virtues of the Slow Food philosophy: Good, Clean and Fair.
What my career / job / business will look like in a year, who can say? But I am taking a leap of faith that the universe will provide if I put my energy in the right direction. And it is.
Slow Food and Terra Madre 2018
In mid-2018, I joined the Slow Food Swan Valley & Eastern Regions convivium and its committee, the only remaining group in Western Australia. I am working with them in a marketing capacity on a number of projects and will be heading to Terra Madre (the world’s largest international event dedicated to food) in September 2018 as the group’s journalist. I plan to document the event and the indigenous food projects the Swan Valley convivium is sponsoring with the view to getting published back in WA. Read more here.
